About us
A greenhouse.
A laptop. A shared idea.
Grown × generatedWe make nature
make shape.
Phytosynth Botanics is a rare-tropical-plant and 3D-printed-planter studio in Mystic, Connecticut. We bring two practices together: the patient work of growing and the open possibilities of digital fabrication.
Our starting point is always the living specimen. Its shape, growth, and needs inform a vessel made for it. From variegated Monsteras to velvet Anthuriums, the plant and the object are designed as a pair.
As the botanical sibling to Synthminds AI, we share a curiosity about what technology can make possible. Here, that curiosity takes root.
A grower’s eye.
A maker’s mind.

Founded by Wes Shields, a Navy Supply Corps officer, lifelong orchid and aroid grower, and founder of Synthminds AI, Phytosynth brings a collector’s attention to the details that make each specimen distinct.
From our Mystic studio, we grow rare tropicals and design the vessels that give them a place in your world.
